Flower Tower Vases: The Perfect Wedding Decoration
Nearly every bride-to-be longs for a dream-come-true wedding for the least amount of money possible. The price of modern weddings, however, has climbed to unbelievable heights, and many brides try to save money wherever they can. One way to save money is with do-it-yourself wedding decorations. In this day and age, brides don't have to sacrifice their wedding décor in order to save money if they or their family and friends are willing to put a little time and effort into the wedding decorations beforehand. For example, clear or colored tower vases with floral arrangements at the top are very popular and easy-to-assemble centerpieces for wedding receptions if you just follow a few easy steps.
First, gather your supplies. You will need the following: a tower vase, aluminum foil, floral foam, floral glue, floral tape, and an assortment of flowers and greenery, such as ivy, roses, daisy, statice, or silk grass. Tower vases come in a variety of heights and materials, but the standard clear glass tower vase is relatively inexpensive. You can also use tall glass candlesticks for these arrangements instead of tower vases. Many wedding suppliers sell tower vases in bulk, and you can order them online or by phone. You could also rent them inexpensively, but you would need to be sure of the size of them beforehand so that you could practice making the correct size floral arrangements.
The most important and challenging part of making a flower tower vase is constructing the flower holder. You can purchase pre-made holders for tower vases, but making your own is less expensive. First cut a piece of cardboard and glue it to the opening of the vase. It should be just big enough to cover the opening. Next, cut a piece of foil approximately the same size or a little larger and glue it on top of the cardboard. Leave the foil unglued enough around the edges so that you can fold it up a little. Finally, cut a piece of foam a little smaller than the foil, submerge it in water for a few minutes, and then glue it to the top of the foil. Fold the edges of the foil around the bottom of the foam so that the water will not end up soaking into the cardboard, and secure the foil with tape. In order for your centerpieces to hold up beautifully during the wedding, you must prevent any water from seeping into the cardboard, so folding the foil correctly is a very important step. When the holder is ready, insert flowers at will to create the centerpiece of your dreams. Look for floral arrangements you like in wedding magazines for research. Also, remember that some flowers should be inserted close to the foam and some should be left hanging out farther in order to create a sense of depth. You could also use silk flowers if you are worried about time management.
